The Rotary Club: Make A World Of Difference!

With over 1.2 million members and 35,000 clubs worldwide, Rotary International is the world’s premier service organization.

The Rotary Club of Long Beach (RCLB) is proud to be part of this worldwide organization and its focus on friendship, integrity, and living the motto “Service Above Self.”

We’re also proud of our history as the oldest service club in Long Beach, and our ranking as one of the 50 largest Rotary Clubs in the world!

With a local membership representing over 100 occupations from a variety of sectors and backgrounds, we offer nearly limitless opportunities to do something for other people, locally and worldwide, in tangible, productive, and sustainable ways.

We call them Avenues of Service — as a new member you can choose at least one Avenue to begin your Rotary Club experience:

1.

Community Service: Engage directly with our local community and related programs.

2.

Club Service: Ensure RCLB runs smoothly, professionally, and with personal attention for members and guests.

3.

Fellowship Service: Manage and host member activities from boating to dinners, social mixers, adventure outings, and more.

4.

International Service: Sponsor a project in another country, seek international project partners to support projects here, or volunteer at an international project site.

5.

Membership Service: Spark involvement by new and current members, and provide information on our complete range of club activities.

6.

Career Service: Promote high business and professional behavior standards through programs such as Camp Enterprise, visitation projects, and youth mentoring.

7.

Youth Service: Support activities focused on youth and college students across various Rotary and other programs.

Criteria For Membership

 

Long Beach Rotary is looking for members who:

1. Are of good character and reputation in both their professional and personal life,

2. Affirm they will follow the concepts of The Four Way Test — the ethical guide Rotarians use to help make business, professional, and personal decisions — which are as follows:

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

3. Have attended at least two RCLB events before being sponsored for Membership. Attendance of at least one weekly lunch meeting and a Rotary Connections meeting is highly recommended, although any two events (social, service, or committee meeting) will fulfill this requirement,

4. Be open to consider voluntary contributions to the LB Rotary Charitable Foundation, and/or the LB Rotary Scholarship Foundation, and/or the Rotary International Foundation,

5. Are comfortable with the following financial expectations:

  • The one-time Application Fee of $450. 
  • The Annual Dues of $760, which includes Rotary International dues, Rotary District dues, and the cost of Club administration.
  • Cost of weekly lunch meetings ($35/week) or, if preferred, the $950/year meal plan.
